Description
The Rochester-Ochsner Artery Forcep 24 cm / 9-1/2" straight, is a long toothed crushing clamp whose 1:2 tip teeth prevent heavy tissue from sliding within the jaw.
01Product Overview
The Rochester-Ochsner Artery Forcep, 24 cm / 9-1/2" straight, is distinguished from the otherwise similar Pean pattern by the addition of 1:2 teeth at the tip of the jaw. Those teeth are the defining feature. Transverse serrations alone may allow heavy or fibrous tissue to slide within the clamp under tension, whereas interlocking teeth anchor the tip and prevent that movement.
The instrument is therefore selected where a secure hold on substantial tissue is more important than avoiding tissue damage, such as when clamping a large pedicle, holding fascia under traction, or securing tissue that is to be excised. At 24 cm it is the longest artery forcep in the range and is intended for large animal work and deep procedures. As with all toothed crushing clamps, it marks the tissue it holds and should not be applied to structures intended to remain viable.

04Frequently Asked Questions
How does an Ochsner differ from a Pean?
The Ochsner adds 1:2 interlocking teeth at the tip, which prevent heavy tissue sliding within the clamp under tension.
Is it suitable for delicate tissue?
No. The teeth mark the tissue, so it is reserved for structures being excised or permanently ligated.
