Description

The Gelpi Retractor 14 cm / 5-1/2" is the largest Gelpi size offered, giving deeper exposure and a wider aperture for canine orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

01Product Overview

The Gelpi Retractor, 14 cm / 5-1/2" is the largest of the three Gelpi sizes offered and is the pattern most often used in canine surgery. Its length allows the tips to reach and hold tissue at a greater depth while the ratchet and finger rings sit well clear of the operating field. The arms also open wider than the shorter patterns, giving a larger aperture for procedures where a small opening would restrict the approach.

The single sharp point at each tip anchors securely in muscle and fascia without occupying the length of the wound margin that a multi pronged retractor would take up. Common applications include cranial cruciate and other stifle approaches, deeper orthopedic exposure, and soft tissue procedures in medium and large breeds. A 14 cm Gelpi is supplied within the HK orthopedic knee pack alongside a shorter pattern, allowing the veterinary surgeon to change retractors as the depth of the approach changes.
