Description
The Gemini Artery and Ligature Forcep 20 cm / 8" is a long curved forcep for passing ligatures behind vessels situated deep within the abdomen or thorax.
01Product Overview
The Gemini Artery and Ligature Forcep, 20 cm / 8" provides the curved ligature passing tip of the pattern with the reach required for deeper work. The purpose of the additional length is straightforward. Vessels situated deep within the abdomen or thorax cannot be encircled with a 16 cm instrument without the surgeon's hand entering the field and obscuring the site, and placing a ligature blind around a significant vessel is not acceptable practice. The 20 cm length keeps the hand clear while the slim curved tip performs the same controlled pass beneath the vessel.
The instrument also serves as a long fine dissector for defining vascular structures at depth. It should be noted that a longer instrument amplifies any movement at the fingers, so a steady grip is required. The slim jaws are for passing and dissecting rather than for crushing a pedicle.

04Frequently Asked Questions
When is the 20 cm length necessary?
When a vessel lies deep within the abdomen or thorax and a 16 cm instrument would require the hand to enter and obscure the field.
Can it be used to crush a pedicle?
No. The slim jaws are for passing ligatures and dissecting. A Carmalt should be used for pedicle crushing.
