Dandy Artery Forcep 14 cm Curved

The Dandy Artery Forcep, 14 cm curved, is a toothed haemostat originally developed for neurosurgical use, where it was applied to scalp edges to control bleeding and hold the skin margin under tension during a craniotomy. The 1:2 teeth at the tip are what allow it to perform that role, since a plain serrated jaw will slip on a skin edge held under traction. In veterinary practice the same properties make it useful wherever a skin or fascial edge must be both clamped and held firmly, including scalp and cranial approaches, and procedures where the wound margin must be controlled.

The curve assists application along an incision line. As a toothed instrument it marks the tissue it holds, which is acceptable at a wound margin that will be trimmed or closed but not appropriate for tissue that must remain undisturbed.
