Baby-Mixter Artery Forcep 14 cm

The Baby-Mixter Artery Forcep, 14 cm, has jaws set at close to a right angle to the shank. This geometry defines its use. A right angled tip can be introduced alongside a vessel and turned directly beneath it, so the structure is encircled with minimal disturbance to the surrounding tissue. Once behind the vessel the tips may take hold of a ligature and draw it back through in a single controlled movement.

A conventionally curved forcep cannot achieve the same angle of approach and requires more dissection to reach the same position. The Baby pattern denotes the finer and shorter version of the Mixter, which suits small animal work and delicate vascular structures. Applications include isolating and ligating vessels, dissecting around ducts, and passing ligatures in confined spaces. The fine tips are intended for dissection and ligature placement rather than for crushing.
