Rochester-Carmalt Artery Forcep 20 cm Curved

The Rochester-Carmalt Artery Forcep, 20 cm curved, is the largest and most capable pedicle clamp in the range. It combines the reach required for deep abdominal work with a curved tip that can be passed around a pedicle approached from the side. For large and giant breed ovariohysterectomy this combination is the most practical of the four Carmalt options, since the pedicle is both deep and rarely presented directly.

The longer shank increases the force delivered at the jaw, which is necessary when crushing a substantial and well vascularised pedicle. The longitudinally grooved jaw distributes that force along the tissue rather than concentrating it, and the crushed groove that results provides a secure seat for the ligature. Once applied, the curved body of the instrument remains clear of the surgeon's view of the field, which is a meaningful advantage during a deep procedure.
