Description
The Rochester-Carmalt Artery Forcep 16 cm curved, is the standard curved pedicle clamp used to crush and hold vascular bundles during spay surgery.
01Product Overview
The Rochester-Carmalt Artery Forcep, 16 cm curved, is the most widely used pedicle clamp in small animal surgery. The heavy longitudinally grooved jaw crushes and holds a vascular bundle securely, while the curve allows the tip to be passed around a pedicle that is not directly presented. In practice the curved pattern is applied more often than the straight, because an ovarian pedicle is usually approached from the side rather than head on. Once the clamp is placed and released, the crushed groove provides a defined seat for the ligature, which reduces the likelihood of slippage.
The ratchet holds the instrument closed while the ligature is tied. HK Medical Instruments supplies this pattern within both the canine and feline spay packs and lists it as an individual item in stock. Its robust construction is intended for pedicles and heavier tissue rather than fine vessels.
