Description
The Kelly Artery Forcep 14 cm / 5-12" straight, is a medium weight haemostat with jaws serrated over the distal half, used to clamp medium sized vessels.
01Product Overview
The Kelly Artery Forcep, 14 cm / 5-12" straight, occupies the middle ground between the fine mosquito and the heavy Carmalt. Its defining feature is that the serrations extend over only the distal half of the jaw rather than the full length. This partial serration is deliberate. It gives a secure hold at the tip where the vessel is clamped while leaving the proximal jaw smooth, which reduces the amount of surrounding tissue caught within the instrument.
The jaws are heavier than a mosquito, making the Kelly appropriate for medium sized vessels that a mosquito would not hold reliably. The straight pattern is used where the vessel lies in the direct line of approach. The ratchet holds the clamp during ligation. HK Medical Instruments supplies two of these forceps within its feline spay packs as well, where they are applied to the ovarian and uterine pedicles.
