Description

The Kelly Artery Forcep 14 cm / 5-12" curved, is a medium weight haemostat whose curved tip allows vessels approached at an angle to be clamped securely.

01Product Overview

The Kelly Artery Forcep, 14 cm / 5-12" curved, provides the medium weight jaw of the Kelly pattern with a curved tip. The curve allows the jaws to be passed around a vessel approached at an angle, and it keeps the handle away from the veterinary surgical field once the clamp is applied. In soft tissue surgery this is frequently the more practical of the two Kelly patterns, particularly during abdominal procedures where vessels are rarely presented in a convenient straight line.

As with the straight version, the serrations extend over the distal half of the jaw only, giving a firm hold at the tip while limiting the tissue drawn into the clamp. The ratchet secures the instrument in position while a ligature is placed. Practices assembling general veterinary surgical packs commonly include both the straight and curved patterns so that the appropriate instrument is available for the vessel encountered.
