Description

The Halsted-Mosquito Artery Forcep 12.5 cm / 5" straight, is a fine haemostat used to clamp small vessels precisely without including surrounding tissue.

01Product Overview

The Halsted-Mosquito Artery Forcep 12.5 cm / 5" is the finest haemostat in general veterinary surgical use. Its jaws are short and narrow with serrations running the full length, an arrangement that allows a small vessel to be occluded precisely without including surrounding tissue in the clamp. This precision is the reason the mosquito is preferred for subcutaneous bleeders, dental haemorrhage and fine vessels in small patients. The straight pattern is applied where the vessel lies in the direct line of approach and no angle is required.

The ratchet holds the clamp closed so the instrument may be left in place while the vessel is ligated. Mosquito forceps are used in numbers rather than singly, and most veterinary surgical packs contain several. HK Medical Instruments supplies this pattern within the canine and feline spay packs, the ear pack, the general surgery pack and the orthopedic knee pack.
