Description

The Crile Artery Forcep 14 cm / 5-12" curved, is a haemostat with jaws serrated along the full length, giving a uniform grip that resists vessel slippage.

01Product Overview

The Crile Artery Forcep, 14 cm / 5-12" curved, is closely related to the Kelly but differs in one important respect. The serrations run along the full length of the jaw rather than the distal half only. This provides a more uniform grip and reduces the likelihood of a vessel sliding within the clamp, which is an advantage when the tissue is slippery or when the clamp must remain in place for a period. The trade is that a fully serrated jaw will draw slightly more surrounding tissue into the clamp than a partially serrated Kelly.

Veterinary surgeons who prefer certainty of hold favour the Crile, while those prioritising tissue conservation prefer the Kelly. Both are 14 cm and interchangeable in most respects. The curved tip allows the jaws to pass around vessels approached at an angle, and the ratchet secures the clamp while a ligature is placed.
