Description

The Iris Fine Scissor 9 cm/3-1/2" sharp/sharp curved, is the smallest curved pattern, keeping the cutting point visible while following rounded surfaces.

01Product Overview

The Iris Fine Scissor, 9 cm/3-1/2" sharp/sharp curved is the curved counterpart of the smallest pattern in the range. The curve changes what the operator can see. With straight blades the tips sit directly in line behind the shanks, so during a delicate cut the instrument itself can obscure the exact point where the blades are closing. A curved blade moves the tips off that axis, keeping the cutting point visible throughout.

The curve also allows the tips to follow a rounded surface, which matters on the cornea, conjunctiva and small anatomical structures. At 9 cm the instrument remains extremely light in the fingers. Many surgeons performing fine work hold both the straight and curved 9 cm patterns and select according to the direction of the cut.

Why does a curve improve visibility?

The tips move off the axis of the shanks, so the instrument no longer obscures the point at which the blades close.

Many veterinary surgeons doing fine work hold both and select according to the direction of the cut.
