Description
The Feline Anterior Periosteal Elevator Fig. 9 is angled for the incisor and canine region, presenting the blade correctly to bone at the front of the mouth.
01Product Overview
The Feline Anterior Periosteal Elevator, Fig. 9, is angled for the front of the mouth. Access to the incisor and canine region differs from access to the caudal arcade in a way that determines instrument design.
At the front the lip and the opposing arcade restrict the angle at which a handle can be held, and an instrument shaped for caudal work presents its blade at the wrong attitude to the bone when brought forward. An anterior pattern angles the blade so that it meets the bone surface correctly while the handle remains in a position the hand can hold. This matters because a blade meeting bone at the wrong angle lifts into the flap rather than along the bone.

04Frequently Asked Questions
Why is an anterior specific pattern needed?
The lip and opposing arcade restrict handle angle at the front, so a caudal pattern meets bone at the wrong attitude.
What happens if the angle is wrong?
The blade lifts into the flap rather than travelling along the bone, which tears the tissue.
