Standard Operating Scissor 18 cm Blunt/Blunt Straight TC Gold

The standard operating scissor 18 cm blunt/blunt straight with TC Gold inserts, has rounded tips on both blades. Neither tip will penetrate, which is the entire basis for selecting this pattern. The instrument can be passed beneath a tissue layer and advanced without the operator being able to see the tips, because there is nothing on either blade capable of puncturing what lies below.

This permits safe undercutting near vessels, nerves and viscera where a pointed tip would be an unacceptable risk. 18 cm length allows that work at depth. Tungsten carbide inserts maintain the cutting edge through repeated use, which is relevant on a blunt pattern because the tips contribute nothing to initiating the cut and the edge must do all the work.
