The Spencer Fine Operating Scissor, 14 cm / 5-1/2" is the longest of the three sizes. The additional reach addresses a specific practical difficulty. Sutures placed in an awkward location, such as within a skin fold, beneath a bandage margin or on a large or fractious patient, are difficult to reach with a short scissor without bringing the hand uncomfortably close.

The 14 cm pattern allows the hooked blade to be engaged at a greater distance while the operator maintains a safe and comfortable position. The hook and notch function identically to the smaller sizes, lifting the strand clear of the skin before division. This size is a sensible addition for practices handling large breeds and less cooperative patients.
