Description

The Iris Gum Scissor 11.5 cm / 4-1/2" straight TC Gold is a fine carbide scissor for trimming gingival tissue cleanly during veterinary oral surgery.

01Product Overview

Iris Gum Scissor 11.5 cm / 4-1/2" straight with TC Gold inserts applies the fine iris blade to oral soft tissue work. Gingiva presents a particular challenge, being both thin and comparatively fibrous, and a scissor that is either too coarse or insufficiently sharp will tear the margin rather than dividing it cleanly. A torn gingival edge heals less predictably than a cut one.

The short sharp iris blade divides the tissue precisely, and the straight configuration suits trimming along a gingival margin or flap edge where a curve would lift the tips away from the line. Tungsten carbide inserts maintain that edge through repeated use. The instrument is used in flap surgery, gingival trimming and extraction site preparation.

04Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a dedicated gum scissor needed?

Gingiva is thin but fibrous, and a coarse or dull blade tears the margin, which heals less predictably than a clean cut.

Why straight rather than curved?

A straight blade follows a gingival or flap margin without the tips lifting away from the cutting line.
