Description

The Cushing Tissue Forcep 17 cm / 6-3/4" with 1:2 teeth is a long slim toothed forcep for holding tissue at depth during veterinary abdominal surgery and closure.

01Product Overview

The Cushing Tissue Forcep, 17 cm / 6-3/4" with 1:2 teeth is a long and comparatively slim toothed thumb forcep. Its purpose is to allow tissue to be held at depth. During veterinary abdominal closure or deeper dissection, a 12 cm Adson requires the hand to be brought close to the incision, where it obstructs the view of the working site. The additional length of the Cushing keeps the fingers clear while the tips remain accurate.

The shaft is narrower than that of a standard tissue forcep of comparable length, which further reduces obstruction of the veterinary surgeon's line of sight. The 1:2 tooth arrangement provides a positive hold on skin, fascia and the body wall during suturing. HK Medical Instruments supplies this forcep within its canine spay packs as well. It is a practical addition to any general surgical set where abdominal work is routine.

04Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a Cushing rather than an Adson?

The additional length keeps the hand clear of the incision when holding tissue at depth, which a 12 cm Adson does not allow.

Is the shaft narrower than other long forceps?

Yes. The slim shaft is a defining feature and reduces obstruction of the view during deeper work.
