Description
The Allis-Baby Tissue Forcep 13 cm / 5" with 3:4 teeth is a ratcheted grasping forcep that locks onto tissue and holds it without continuous hand pressure.
01Product Overview
The Allis-Baby Tissue Forcep, 13 cm / 5" with 3:4 teeth is a ratcheted grasping forcep rather than a thumb forcep. This is the important distinction. A thumb forcep must be held closed by hand, whereas an Allis locks at the ratchet and maintains its grip without further attention. The veterinary surgeon can therefore secure a piece of tissue, release the instrument and use both hands elsewhere. The tips carry short interlocking teeth that hold firmly.
The Allis is intended for tissue that is to be removed or retracted rather than preserved, since the teeth do mark the tissue they grip. Common applications include holding a mass during excision, retracting a uterine horn, and securing tissue edges during a procedure. The Baby pattern at 13 cm is the smaller size, appropriate for cats and small breeds.

04Frequently Asked Questions
How does an Allis differ from a thumb forcep?
