Description
The Volkmann Bone Curette 17 cm / 6-3/4", Fig. 00 has a small sharp cup used to scrape away necrotic or infected bone in controlled layers.
01Product Overview
The Volkmann Bone Curette, 17 cm / 6-3/4", Fig. 00 carries a small sharp edged cup on a straight shaft. The instrument works by scraping rather than cutting, drawing the sharpened rim across a surface to remove material in controlled layers. This is the appropriate technique when necrotic or infected bone must be cleared back to healthy tissue, since the operator can judge by feel and appearance when the underlying bone is sound.
Fig. 00 denotes the smallest cup size, suited to confined lesions, small bones and fine work where a larger cup would remove too much at once. The 17 cm shaft provides reach into a deeper site. Applications include debridement of osteomyelitis, curettage of bone cysts and clearance of granulation tissue.
