Stille-Liston Bone Cutting Forcep 27 cm Straight

The Stille-Liston Bone Cutting Forcep, 27 cm straight, is the heavy pattern within the bone cutting range. Two features separate it from the 14 cm Liston. The first is length, which at 27 cm provides substantially greater leverage at the blades, allowing bone to be divided that a shorter cutter could not manage. The second is the construction, as the Stille pattern is built with heavier jaws and a reinforced joint to withstand the forces involved without deflection at the blade.

It is used in large animal orthopedics, amputation of larger limbs, division of substantial bone during resection, and post mortem work. The instrument is heavy in the hand and requires both hands to close under full load. Blades must be maintained sharp, since a dull heavy cutter will crush and splinter bone rather than dividing it.
