01Product Overview
The Spencer Fine Operating Scissor, 9 cm / 4-1/4" is the suture removal pattern. Its lower blade carries a small hook and a notch set back from the tip. That hook is the entire point of the design. It slides beneath a suture, lifts the strand clear of the skin, and holds it within the notch while the upper blade divides it.
The suture can then be withdrawn without any portion that was exposed on the skin surface being drawn back through the suture tract. Attempting the same task with straight scissors requires the tip to be pushed against the skin, which is uncomfortable and far less clean. At 9 cm this is the smallest of the three Spencer sizes, suited to fine sutures and small patients.
