Snook Castration Hook 20 cm 6 mm

The Snook Castration Hook, 20 cm with a 6 mm shaft is the heavier of the two specifications offered. The increased shaft diameter provides greater rigidity, which matters when engaging and drawing a uterine horn in a large or deep chested dog. A thinner shaft may flex under that load, and flexion at the moment of engagement reduces the surgeon's feel for what the hook has caught. The heavier shaft transmits that sensation more accurately.

The broader hook also engages a larger structure more securely. This specification should be selected for large and giant breed ovariohysterectomy, and for any patient in which the 4 mm version feels insufficiently substantial. Practices performing surgery across the full size range commonly hold both.
