The Micro-Adson Dressing Forcep, 12 cm / 4-3/4", combines the fine tip profile of the micro pattern with serrated, non-toothed jaws. This combination serves a specific purpose. It allows tissue and material to be held with a light and precise grip in circumstances where no puncture of any kind is acceptable and where a standard dressing forcep would be too broad for the structure concerned. The instrument is used for handling fine suture material, ophthalmic and periocular dressings, delicate membranes, and small structures in exotic and avian patients.
The narrow tips permit access in confined areas that a standard tip cannot reach comfortably. The wide flat handle of the Adson family is retained for comfort during extended procedures. As with all fine instruments, the tips are precision components. They should not be used to grip heavy or fibrous material, as this will spring the jaws and cause the tips to lose alignment.
