Description
The Adson Dressing Forcep 12 cm / 4-3/4" is a serrated non-toothed thumb forcep for handling swabs, dressings and suture material without puncturing.
01Product Overview
The Adson Dressing Forcep, 12 cm / 4-3/4" has serrated rather than toothed tips. The absence of teeth is the defining characteristic and determines how the instrument is used. Because nothing on the tip can penetrate, the forcep may be applied to materials and structures that a toothed pattern would damage. It is used for placing and removing swabs and dressings, handling suture material, packing wounds, and manipulating tissue where puncture marks would be unwelcome.
The serrations run across the tip faces and provide sufficient grip for these tasks. The instrument shares the wide flat handle of the Adson family, which makes it comfortable to hold for extended periods during dressing changes and wound management. At 12 cm it is compact and easily controlled. It is worth noting that serrated tips require firmer pressure to hold slippery tissue, so a toothed pattern remains the better choice for skin closure.
